Reactive astrocytes as imaged with 11C‐DED in patients with different dementia disorders

Background Neuroinflammation, which receives ever increasing interest in neurodegenerative diseases, comprises a heterogeneous cascade of events that are thought to be related the downstream neurodegeneration. The aim this study was evaluate binding 11C-Deuterium-L-Deprenyl PET (DED) as measure reactive astrocytes patients with different dementia disorders, and assess its association other disease biomarkers. Method Eleven clinical diagnosis semantic variant primary progressive aphasia (svPPA, n = 5) behavioral frontotemporal (bvFTD, 6) were recruited. All had cerebrospinal fluid biomarker profile inconsistent Alzheimer’s (AD) or negative amyloid-β scan. imaging protocol included 11C-DED-PET, 18F-FDG-PET, 3D T1 MRI.
